Arrow prayers

Short prayers shot up to heaven.

Arrow prayers - from the Latin iaculatoria, "javelin, arrow" - are brief prayers lifted to God throughout the day. The Catholic tradition also calls them aspirations. One thought, one breath. You return to God before the screen pulls you back in.

  • Jesus, I trust in You.

    - St. Faustina
  • Lord, You know all things. You know that I love You.

    - John 21:17
  • Iesu, in te confido.

    - Latin tradition

How it works

Turn the habit of reaching for your phone into a moment of prayer.

  1. Choose your apps

Select the apps you reach for most often: social media, video, chats, or news. You can change your selection at any time.

  2. Pause for a moment

Before you continue, PrayCue will show you a short arrow prayer. Hold the prayer button for 8 seconds and say the prayer.

  3. Return to your day

After Amen, or if you tap "Skip", you'll continue to your chosen app. PrayCue does not block you - it invites you to pray.

Optional discipline

For seasons that call for discipline.

By default, PrayCue is gentle: tap “Skip the prayer” to continue to your chosen app. For Lent, a novena, or a season of spiritual discipline, you can turn on Monastic Mode: no skip button, more time for prayer, and a locked app list.

  • 9
Nine days A focused novena for a saint, a feast, or an intention.
  • 30
One month A shorter season of formation and self-mastery.
  • 40
Lent A full Lenten discipline, from Ash Wednesday toward Easter.
  • No end date An open commitment. Active until you choose to release it.

A 4-digit PIN helps protect the commitment from a moment of weakness. When the period ends, PrayCue returns to its default invitation mode.

Privacy first

PrayCue is quiet and personal.

We use the Accessibility Service only to detect when you open a selected app. We do not read anything from your screen, and we do not send data to our servers. Your prayer activity stays on your phone — it never leaves.

Questions

What if…

What if I skip the prayer?
You tap "Skip the prayer" and the app opens normally. PrayCue does not count skips, does not shame, does not punish. We count only the moments you chose.
Where do the arrow prayers come from?
From traditional Polish prayer books and classic Christian sources - St. Faustina, Padre Pio, the Bible, the Roman Missal. All are in the public domain.
Does PrayCue work offline?
Yes. All prayers are stored locally on your phone. No internet is required to use the app.
Is an iPhone version coming?
We are planning iOS, but Apple does not allow this kind of "before you open an app" mechanism out of the box. We are looking for the best solution within iOS constraints.
Is PrayCue spying on me?
No. The Accessibility Service is used only to detect when you open one of your selected apps. We do not read screen contents, messages, passwords, or app data. Your prayer activity is not sent to our servers.
Why does TikTok still play audio behind the prayer screen?
PrayCue requests Android's standard audio focus when the prayer screen appears - YouTube, Spotify and most apps respect this and pause. Some apps (TikTok, Instagram Reels) ignore the request and continue playing audio. This is a deliberate choice by those apps' developers, not something PrayCue can override without overreaching device permissions. The prayer screen still blocks visual interaction.
